If you're into Gunpla model kits, you've probably dabbled in all sorts of techniques – from painting and cutting to weathering – all to make your creations truly unique. It's all about blending elements and sparking new ideas!
But today, we're shining a spotlight on Korean YouTuber and modeler "Fairy of sawdust," who took the iconic "Wing Gundam Zero EW" from Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz and crafted it entirely by hand out of wood! This isn't just a static display piece; it's fully articulated, leaving netizens absolutely floored. One commenter even declared, "This is fantasy-level craftsmanship!"
The XXXG-00W0 Wing Gundam Zero EW was designed by mechanical designer Hajime Katoki for the OVA series Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz. It serves as the successor mobile suit for protagonist Heero Yuy, essentially the OVA counterpart to the TV anime's Wing Gundam Zero. The EW version is particularly famous for its distinctive, organic white feathered wings, earning it the nickname "Angel Gundam" among fans.
The creation process itself is absolutely breathtaking. The artist meticulously carved each individual component from wood, piece by piece, and then assembled it all by hand. It might sound a little odd to describe it this way, but it's essentially like crafting Gunpla parts out of wood – you could even call it "GunWood"!
While incredibly time-consuming and labor-intensive, the final result is nothing short of spectacular! The model boasts fully articulated limbs, and even the Gundam's iconic wings can be freely adjusted, allowing for a wide range of dynamic poses.
Thanks to this incredible articulation, the wooden "Wing Gundam Zero EW" can even recreate classic shooting scenes from the anime! Netizens couldn't stop raving about the quality, exclaiming, "It's astonishing what they achieved using the properties of wood!" and "Anyone with this kind of skill is a legend!" — showering "Fairy of sawdust" with praise for their divine craftsmanship.
