ARTFX J "Pokémon XY Calem with Froakie" Developing Prototype First Revealed!

Japanese model manufacturer Kotobukiya's "ARTFX J" series, which brings popular Japanese ACG characters to life as figures, recently unveiled the unpainted prototype of its new developing work "Calem with Froakie" from "Pokémon XY" for the first time. The release date is yet to be determined.

In "Pokémon X & Y," released in 2013, players take on the role of the protagonist, either Calem or Serena, becoming young Pokémon Trainers, embarking on an adventure in the Kalos region, which is modeled after France. They train at various Gyms, challenge the League Champion, and thwart Team Flare leader Lysandre's ambition to destroy the world. This title was the first in the main "Pokémon" series to be produced entirely with 3D graphics, allowing players to enjoy beautiful scenery, dress their protagonist in a wide array of outfits and accessories, and witness more lively and adorable Pokémon movements.

More than a decade later, the new title "Pokémon Legends: Z-A," confirmed for release in 2025, will bring players back to Lumiose City, the major city in the Kalos region, to embark on a new story centered around the theme of "coexistence between people and Pokémon."

Following the 2017 release of the other protagonist, "Serena with Fennekin", "Calem with Froakie" is finally being brought to life in the "ARTFX J" series. The figure will be produced at approximately 1/8 scale, meticulously sculpted to depict Calem casually walking with his hand on his hat brim, and Froakie in a pose resembling a confused emoji, resulting in a very charming design.
