Sentinel, a Japanese model manufacturer, has announced the latest product in its popular RIOBOT alloy action figure series, "Vysaga," from "Super Robot Wars OG," slated for release in September 2025. This product will be exclusively sold through Sentinel's official designated channels, including the SENTINEL STORE.
First appearing in "Super Robot Wars A," the super robot protagonist unit VR-02 Vysaga is a specialized sword-fighting machine, resembling a dark knight clad in a vibrant red cape. It boasts exceptionally high mobility and defense, capable of evading attacks with its bunshin (clone) ability, while its back cape can also serve as a defensive shield. Vysaga is equipped with melee armaments such as the Godai Sword, Kunai, and Hook Claws, allowing it to unleash impressive techniques like Rekkaha, Suiryu Soga, Jizan Jikkuuto, and the ultimate Ougi: Kourinzan.
The "RIOBOT Vysaga" is crafted as a large-scale action figure, standing approximately 27 cm tall. Its main movable frame incorporates a significant amount of die-cast parts, providing both a satisfying heft during play and robust joint articulation. The vibrant red cape on its back is made from fabric with embedded metal wires, allowing it to be posed and shaped according to the figure's movements.
The mecha's stylistic design and prototype sculpting are handled by renowned sculptor Takao Kinoshita. He not only faithfully reproduces the original details by the late "Super Robot Wars" series designer Taisei Fujii but also skillfully combines the straight lines of knightly armor with the curves of musculature, presenting a cool, modern, and mainstream physique.
The entire figure is finished with metallic paintwork in colors such as metallic blue and gunmetal. The crystal-like sections on the head and shoulders are rendered with clear parts, and some of the clear parts on the forehead and eyes can produce a glowing effect when illuminated with a black light.
Accessories include armaments and effect parts such as Rekkaha, Suiryu Soga, and the Godai Sword. The Godai Sword features a movable hilt mechanism allowing it to be drawn from its sheath, along with a dedicated two-handed grip and auxiliary parts for fine-tuning the blade's angle. These can be combined with the flexible articulated joints and fully articulated hands with movable fingers to recreate techniques like Rekkaha, Suiryu Soga, Jizan Jikkuuto, Fuujinzan, and Kourinzan.
