Monkey Punch's iconic creation, Lupin the 3rd, has captivated fans for years with its brilliant storytelling and unforgettable characters, even spawning the ongoing TV anime series, Lupin the 3rd Part 6.
Last November, news broke about the 11th theatrical film in the series. Today (April 4), the official title has been revealed as "LUPIN THE IIIRD THE MOVIE: The Immortal Bloodline"! Alongside the title, a thrilling new trailer and teaser visual have dropped, confirming a June 27, 2025 release date.
This new movie marks a monumental return: it's the first mainline 2D theatrical anime film starring Lupin himself in roughly 30 years, since 1996's Lupin the 3rd: Dead or Alive. At the helm is visionary director Takeshi Koike, known for his work on recent Lupin the 3rd projects, where he masterfully blends Lupin's classic charm with fresh, modern elements to forge new legends.
And get ready, because the familiar faces and voices are all making a comeback! Kanichi Kurita returns as Lupin the 3rd, Akio Ōtsuka as Daisuke Jigen, Daisuke Namikawa as Goemon Ishikawa, Miyuki Sawashiro as Fujiko Mine, and Koichi Yamadera as Inspector Zenigata.
This time, Lupin and his crew are targeting a mysterious, uncharted island rumored to hide an astonishing treasure. Drawn by an unseen force, they arrive only to face their greatest trial yet – one unlike anything they've ever encountered.
But here's the real showstopper that's got fans buzzing: the theme song, "The IIIRD Eye," is a brand-new track custom-made by none other than rock legends B'z! You can catch a sneak peek of it in the trailer. Guitarist Tak Matsumoto shared his excitement: "It's a huge honor and joy to contribute music to 'Lupin the 3rd,' a series I grew up watching. As soon as I got the offer, I started composing. The first keyword that came to mind was 'JAZZY.' This song blends B'z's rock style with a jazz vibe, topped off with a magnificent brass arrangement. I'm incredibly satisfied with the result." Vocalist Koshi Inaba added, "While creating it, I was particularly mindful of 'Lupin the 3rd's' cooler, more intense atmosphere. I wanted to express that endless desire, and the characters' noble spirit that persists even amidst their ambitions."
