Himitsu Sentai Gorenger "S.H.Figuarts (Shinkocchou Seihou) Akarenger" Super Sentai 50th Anniversary Item Appears!

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Toei's special effects series "Super Sentai Series" in Japan, BANDAI SPIRITS Collectors Division TAMASHII NATIONS is releasing a new item from their "S.H.Figuarts (Shinkocchou Seihou)" series, which sculpts figures from the skeletal structure to capture the original cool appearance and natural articulation of special effects heroes. A silhouette of the commemorative item, "Akarenger" from "Himitsu Sentai Gorenger," has been teased, with the release date yet to be determined.

"Himitsu Sentai Gorenger," which aired in 1975, is the first work in Toei's Super Sentai series. The story describes how the evil organization "Black Cross Army," aiming to conquer the world, attacked various branches of the International Secret Defense Agency (Eagle) across Japan. A large number of members were killed, with only Tsuyoshi Kaijo, Akira Shinmei, Daita Oiwa, Peggy Matsuyama, and Kenji Asuka miraculously surviving. Under the special training of Commander Gonpachi Edogawa, they formed the special unit "Gorenger" and launched a counterattack against the Black Cross Army from their secret base in Shinjuku.

The manga's original author for this work was also Shotaro Ishinomori. In the live-action special effects drama, it pioneered the "five heroes uniting to fight villains" Sentai format and incorporated comedic elements popular with children, building upon the original's espionage action. Following "Kamen Rider" in 1971, it once again sparked a boom in special effects heroes, achieving a peak viewership rating of 22% during its broadcast in Japan.
