Bandai Spirits, a popular Japanese toy company, has announced the latest additions to its popular special effects and monster-themed soft vinyl toy series, "MOVIE MONSTER". These new products, "Godzilla (2000) Odaiba Decisive Battle Color ver." and "Megaguirus Odaiba Decisive Battle Color ver.", are based on the film "Godzilla vs. Megaguirus" and are scheduled for release on April 23, 2025. These items will be sold exclusively at the official Godzilla specialty store, GODZILLA STORE.
Released in 2000, "Godzilla vs. Megaguirus" depicts Japan's history of being attacked by the giant creature "Godzilla" half a century prior, which destroyed a nuclear power plant in Tokyo. As a result, Japan abandoned nuclear power and fully committed to developing alternative energy sources, ultimately developing plasma energy in 1996. However, in the same year, this energy facility was again destroyed by Godzilla, leading to the death of Takuya Miyagawa, who was in charge of the anti-Godzilla operation. The protagonist, Kiriko Tsujimori, vows to avenge him.
Five years later, the Japan Self-Defense Agency developed the ultimate anti-Godzilla weapon, the "Dimension Tide," using plasma energy. However, during a test firing, a spacetime rift was accidentally created, allowing ancient giant insects called "Meganula" to arrive in the present day, multiplying rapidly and attacking humans. A mutated individual even absorbed Godzilla's energy, growing into the supremely powerful "Hyper Flying Dragon Megaguirus." Subsequently, Godzilla landed in Odaiba, Tokyo, and engaged in a final decisive battle with Megaguirus...
"MOVIE MONSTER Godzilla (2000) Odaiba Decisive Battle Color ver." is a modified version based on the previously released standard edition. At approximately 28 cm in length, it faithfully recreates Godzilla's fierce head, rough skin texture across its body, and distinctive lightning-bolt-shaped dorsal fins. For the coloring, the transparently molded dorsal fins feature an orange-toned gradient paint application, capturing the orange glow and extreme heat emitted when Godzilla unleashes its atomic breath.
"MOVIE MONSTER Megaguirus Odaiba Decisive Battle Color ver." is also a modified version based on the previously released standard edition. Measuring approximately 25 cm in length, it is sculpted in a flying pose. Its body features vibrant red and purple gradient colors applied to transparent molded parts, depicting the high-frequency vibrations and afterimages generated during high-speed flight.
