GUNDAM BASE, Japan's official Gunpla flagship store for "Mobile Suit Gundam," has announced that the latest limited-edition product, "MG 1/100 ν Gundam Ver.Ka [Mechanical Clear]," from the theatrical anime film "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack," will be available for sale at various stores starting May 24, 2025.
The RX-93 ν Gundam is a custom mobile suit designed with the participation of Earth Federation Forces' Newtype ace pilot Amuro Ray, used to counter Char's Second Neo Zeon War in UC 0093. This machine returned to the original design philosophy of simplicity, versatility, and durability. It features micro-thrusters throughout its body for precise attitude control, incorporates "Psycho-Frame" technology, and is equipped with all-range attack "Fin Funnels," significantly enhancing the machine's structural strength, mobility, and Amuro's Newtype abilities.
The "MG 1/100 ν Gundam Ver.Ka [Mechanical Clear]" is a modified version based on the previously released regular edition. The armor parts, originally in colors such as black, white, red, and yellow, have been replaced with colorless transparent molding. This not only clearly reveals the intricate internal frame structure but also allows modelers to utilize the texture of the transparent parts for customization, creating a wide array of clear-colored style finishes.
Aside from the color, the specifications are identical to the regular edition. The mobile suit's design and various mechanisms were handled by renowned mechanical designer KATOKI HAJIME, featuring rich armor details and armor expansion gimmicks that differ from the original work. At the time, the original "cracked armor" gimmick, which revealed the internal green Psycho-Frame by expanding the armor, was a major selling point. However, this kit also appears to have made the Psycho-Frame parts transparent.
Weapon accessories include a beam rifle, beam saber, hyper bazooka, shield, and six "Fin Funnels" mounted on the back. With the Fin Funnels' transformation mechanism and the included clear auxiliary stands, cool Fin Funnel firing scenes can be recreated.
