TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., has officially announced today the latest product from its popular alloy toy series "METAL BUILD," the "Hyper Mega Launcher Option Set" from "Mobile Suit Z Gundam," slated for release in October 2025.
The large armament used by the Z Gundam in the series, the "FXA-03M2 Hyper Mega Launcher," is an anti-ship attack weapon capable of firing high-power MEGA particle beams. Its barrel houses a Minovsky-Ionesco type reactor, allowing it to fire directly without external energy supply. The barrel also features thrusters to assist the Z Gundam in carrying it smoothly. While the muzzle can generate a "long beam saber," its massive size makes it unsuitable for close-quarters combat.
The "METAL BUILD Hyper Mega Launcher Option Set" features a reinterpreted design by renowned mechanical designer Junichi Akutsu. It boasts an imposing length of approximately 30 cm, incorporating MB-style intricate mechanical details, metallic paint finishes, and a wealth of original gimmicks. When combined with the separately sold "Z Gundam" main unit, it recreates dynamic battle poses.
The Hyper Mega Launcher features original deployment and telescoping mechanisms, allowing numerous armor panels and components on the upper and lower parts of the barrel to expand, revealing intricate internal structures, while also slightly extending the barrel's length.
Furthermore, a newly designed auxiliary grip in the middle of the barrel allows for different holding poses compared to previous products. The muzzle can also attach the beam saber effect parts included with the "Z Gundam" main unit.
Accessories include a dedicated display stand, transparent auxiliary supports, and more, which can be used to display the Z Gundam transformed into Waverider mode with the Hyper Mega Launcher attached.
