Japanese model manufacturer BellFine (株式会社ベルファイン) recently unveiled their latest product from the TV anime "Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story - Kyoto Arc," the "Kenshin Himura Amakakeru Ryū no Hirameki Ver." 1/6 scale pre-painted figure! It is scheduled for release in October 2025, with a suggested retail price of 29,700 JPY (tax included).
Kenshin Himura, the protagonist of "Rurouni Kenshin" created by Japanese manga artist Nobuhiro Watsuki, is surely a childhood idol for many toy enthusiasts! Though small in stature, his swordsmanship is exceptional. Normally gentle and considerate, he becomes incredibly reliable in battle. After his past as the countless-slaying "Hitokiri Battōsai," Kenshin once again wields his sword for a new era, vowing never to kill! His signature sword style, "Hiten Mitsurugi-ryū," is an ancient sword art renowned for its divine-speed drawing techniques, learned from Hiten Mitsurugi-ryū's 13th successor, Hiko Seijuro.
This piece stands approximately 25.5 cm tall and is crafted from high-quality polystone. With supervision from original author Nobuhiro Watsuki-sensei, Kenshin is meticulously recreated as he unleashes the Hiten Mitsurugi-ryū's ultimate secret technique, "Amakakeru Ryū no Hirameki." From the fiercely upward-swinging blade posture, the kimono sculpted to convey dynamic movement and speed, the lowered, leaping stance, to the crucial "left foot" that must be forcefully stepped forward to successfully execute the ultimate technique—all are perfectly reproduced. Shadow painting is applied to his long red hair, skin, attire, and the rock-textured base, giving the entire piece a profound visual impact. Coupled with the intricate details of the Sakabatō (reverse-blade sword) and the clearly visible cracks on the base from above, it's incredibly cool!
