The "HG (High Grade)" Gunpla series, known for its comprehensive lineup of mobile suits and faithful recreation of anime designs, produced by BANDAI SPIRITS Company's HOBBY Division in Japan, today unveiled for the first time at the "63rd Shizuoka Hobby Show" the prototype of the protagonist mobile suit from the new manga "Mobile Suit Gundam EIGHT", the "HG Gundam Zilius". It will be sold later via PREMIUM BANDAI.
The new manga "Mobile Suit Gundam EIGHT", which was announced several years ago as part of the 20th-anniversary celebration for Monthly "Gundam ACE", has finally announced that its serialization will begin in the August issue, scheduled for release on June 26, 2025. The story is penned by Kazuki Kamoshida, who previously worked on the script for "Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans", while the artwork is handled by Hidenori Takagi, known for illustrating the manga version of "Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation Code Fairy" and the novel version of "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury".
The story of this work is set in an original world view independent of other Gundam series – the Eternal Calendar year 2030. Earth's humanity once believed that the flourishing development of science and biotechnology would liberate them from war and suffering, leading to eternal prosperity. However, today, "Earth," once the cradle of human civilization, has been destroyed by human hands, with only 258 survivors and one "Gundam" remaining.
