From Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company's collector's toy division, TAMASHII NATIONS, the popular alloy toy series "METAL BUILD" today officially announced the full details of the highly anticipated mobile suit "1.5 Gundam" from the *Mobile Suit Gundam 00* side story, with a scheduled release in September 2025.
First appearing in *Mobile Suit Gundam 00I*, the CB-001.5 "1.5 Gundam" is a mobile suit created by repairing and enhancing the "1 Gundam," the Innovator-exclusive successor to the 0 Gundam. Its overall performance has been boosted by 1.5 times compared to its predecessor, and it is also equipped with a back binder designed similarly to the "Alvaaron." Through the transformation of the binder, it can switch between various functions such as Flight Mode, High-Speed Flight Mode, Standby Mode, Attack Mode, and Defense Mode, and unleash high-firepower barrages using the Alvaaron Cannons concealed within the binder.
The "METAL BUILD 1.5 Gundam" boasts the largest size among all Gundam products in the series to date, standing at an impressive 21 cm tall. Its overall design is a reinterpretation based on the original settings, imbuing the sophisticated armor with more human-muscle-like bulges, armor separations, internal structural details, and original body markings. This powerfully showcases the imposing presence and aura of the main series' boss mobile suit, the "Regenerate Gundam," which it precedes.
Most of the parts forming the movable frame are made of die-cast metal, and the body is painted with a more substantial matte white and purple color scheme, giving the model a realistic, weapon-like texture. The die-cast frame not only provides a weighty feel during handling but also offers flexible articulation and robust joint strength.
In terms of weaponry, in addition to the GN Buster Rifle, GN Beam Saber, and GN Shield, the most distinctive feature is the back binder that can transform into multiple modes. Thanks to its intricate internal transformation mechanism, it can recreate six forms from the original setting: "Standby Mode," "Attack Mode," "Flight Mode," "Defense Mode," "Alvaaron Cannon Mode," and "Binder Rifle Mode."
METAL BUILD has also added several original mechanisms to the back binder, allowing the shield to be attached to the back for storage, or the binders to be equipped on both arms as handheld weapons, among other configurations. These different assembly methods create original silhouettes for the 1.5 Gundam.
