The popular die-cast toy series "Chogokin Damashii", released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., has officially announced the latest product from TAKARA TOMY's popular toy series "Shinkalion", the "SHINKALION E5 Hayabusa", scheduled for release in November 2025.
"Shinkalion" is a cross-media IP project launched in 2015, themed around the "Shinkansen" (bullet train), a proud technological achievement of Japan, combined with the "transforming robots" commonly seen in sci-fi anime. Under the supervision of JR East Company, many actual Japanese trains were designed as robot characters. Shogakukan and TAKARA TOMY, also involved in the project, repeatedly designed the transformation mechanisms of the Shinkalion robots for future application in TV anime and toy products.
Particularly in the toy segment, TAKARA TOMY leveraged its past experience in producing the "Transformers" and popular railway model "Plarail" series, achieving a design where multiple slender train cars transform into cool, well-proportioned robots. With the official broadcast of the TV anime, the toy product designs also evolved, developing diverse play patterns such as link combination, cross combination, and ultimate cross combination, achieving tremendous success.
This time, Chogokin Damashii introduces the series' signature protagonist machine, the "SHINKALION E5 Hayabusa", presented as an approximately 26 cm tall die-cast articulated figure, featuring a cool design and a transformation mechanism with no leftover parts. In its untransformed Shinkansen mode, it includes both the lead car and the tail car, meticulously recreating the streamlined design of the car body and nose. The characteristic Tokiwa Green, Hayate Pink, and Flying Cloud White body colors are reproduced through paint application. It can be displayed with a base designed to resemble the "Shinkansen Ultra Evolution Institute" base.
During transformation, the connection of the two car noses is recreated. The precise transformation mechanism built into the body and the articulated die-cast frame gradually restore the torso, limbs, and head. Both the front, where the main armor is located, and the back, where the frame is exposed, feature a complete and cool design. It also boasts flexible articulated joints and individually articulated fingers, allowing for dynamic battle poses when equipped with its included main weapon, the "Gate Slasher Sword"!
