Japanese model manufacturer Kotobukiya (KOTOBUKIYA) today officially announced the first product in its new monster-themed model kit series, "ABSOLUTE STRUCTURE," featuring "Godzilla (1989)" from "Godzilla vs. Biollante." The product is scheduled for release in September 2025.
Godzilla (1989), who appeared in "Godzilla vs. Biollante," is, in terms of setting, the same individual as the Godzilla (1984) from the previous film. At the end of the previous film, he was artificially guided into the crater of Mt. Mihara and fell dormant. However, five years later, the American corporate conglomerate "Bio-Major" and the Saradian Republic's intelligence agency both coveted the anti-Godzilla biological weapon "Anti-Nuclear Energy Bacteria (ANEB)" produced by the Japanese government using G-cells. Conflicts during negotiations led to the eruption of the volcano, causing Godzilla to reawaken.
The "ABSOLUTE STRUCTURE Godzilla (1989)" is produced in a size that showcases the monster's power and provides collector satisfaction, standing 20 cm tall and 30 cm long. It is an unpainted, non-articulated model kit. The Godzilla sculpt was handled by ZO MODELS, focusing on faithfully recreating the suit's appearance from the film and expressing the suit actor's performance. Through precise sculpting, the highly biological skin textures, coral-like dorsal fins, and other details of Godzilla are accurately reproduced.
The kit also features precise part separation design, with each main dorsal fin on the back composed of individual parts, which is advantageous for modelers when painting or customizing the dorsal fin parts. For the head, two complete head parts, "jaw open" and "jaw closed," are directly included, allowing players to swap them according to their preference. The swapped-out head parts will not be left in storage but can be displayed on the base featuring the "Godzilla vs. Biollante" movie title.
If you purchase the limited edition of this product at official Kotobukiya designated channels such as KOTOBUKIYA SHOP, you will also receive the limited bonus "Super X2" model kit. This anti-Godzilla superweapon is produced in the same scale as Godzilla (1989), with a total length of approximately 8 cm. Its sculpting delicately reproduces the rich lines of its exterior armor, and through interchangeable parts, it can even recreate the deployed state of its weapon, the "Fire Mirror," which reflects Godzilla's heat ray.
