From Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division, the 'HG (High Grade)' series of 1/144 scale Gunpla, known for its diverse range of mobile suits, has officially announced the latest product from the anime "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX": "HG 1/144 GFreD", slated for release in August 2025.
The gMS-κ Gundam FreD is the second unit of the Gundam QuuuuuuX, developed by the Zeon Principality Army's Kycilia Zabi faction in the lunar city of Granada. It is piloted by Nean, who joined the Zeon forces. This machine shares the same design system as the GQuuuuuuX and is equipped with a "κ (KAPPA) type psycho-communicator system" that can leverage the advantages of Newtype pilots. This system not only allows for intuitive control of the mobile suit through the pilot's brainwaves and remote operation of a pair of miniaturized funnel weapons on its head, but it can also connect to the strategic weapon "Iomagnus" to generate a massive "Zeke Nova" phenomenon at specific coordinates.
The "HG 1/144 GFreD" is based on the GQuuuuuuX kit, utilizing new molding colors to recreate its unique body colors composed of various purples and greens. New parts are used to create a head sculpt distinct from the GQuuuuuuX, featuring miniaturized funnels. The head includes two interchangeable parts for "non-deployed state" and "deployed state," reproducing the appearance when the "κ-type psycho-communicator system" is off and activated.
Aside from new parts used for the conical twin shoulder nozzles and the area around the backpack thruster nozzles, the overall body design is fundamentally the same as the GQuuuuuuX, possessing equivalent flexible articulation to achieve dynamic and powerful combat poses from the series. Armaments also include the same standard beam rifle, shield, and beam sabers, with the beam saber effect parts now molded in clear purple.
