Art is an Explosion! (芸術は爆発だ！)
Japanese toy brand Kaiyodo's Kochi Prefecture Nangoku City branch, "Kaiyodo Kochi," and the modeling production unit "Nangokudo" recently announced a new product full of fantasy and romance: the "TAROMAN" (タローマン) bendable action figure! It is scheduled for release in August 2025, with a suggested retail price of 3,960 JPY (tax included).
The giant of love and art, "TAROMAN," is the protagonist of the 2022 series "TAROMAN: Taro Okamoto-style Tokusatsu Drama." This tokusatsu short drama combines the works and philosophies of art master "Taro Okamoto" with nostalgic elements of Showa-era tokusatsu heroes, conveying the interesting concept of "existing footage of a giant hero tokusatsu work broadcast in the 1970s" in the form of pseudo-historical data. TAROMAN is a giant from the Surrealism Star, possessing 108 extraordinary special moves and the ultimate technique "Art is an Explosion!" Despite his rather strange poses, he fights for justice!
With the movie "TAROMAN: The Great Expo Explosion" (大長編 タローマン 万博大爆発) set to premiere in August 2025, Kaiyodo Kochi/Nangokudo has also released a PVC articulated figure, approximately 16.5 cm tall, infused with bendable wire. It not only faithfully reproduces the golden mask, the 11 horns on the mask, and the TAROMAN Eyes located on the chest and hands, but its red and silver-themed body can also be freely posed in various ways. Whether it's the classic "Art is an Explosion!" stance or flying and resting poses, all exude an incredible, bizarre charm.
