SEGA Prize, a brand under Japan's SEGA Games, will release a new product in its "Chokonose Premium" series featuring the "Evangelion New Theatrical Edition" theme – a sitting figure of "Rei Ayanami", scheduled for release as a prize item in November 2025!
Rei Ayanami, the pilot of Evangelion Unit-00, is the heroine drawn by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, the character designer for EVA, using a character from his previous manga work "Kotou no Oni" (Island of Demons) as a blueprint, and based on Anno's script prompts. In Anno's concept, she represents the unconscious part of Shinji's mind and is one of the objects of Shinji's Oedipus complex.
This Chokonose Premium Rei Ayanami, similar to the previous "Shinji Ikari", is released to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the "Neon Genesis Evangelion" TV anime. It appears to adopt the uniform worn during her visit to the "Japan Marine Ecosystems Research and Preservation Organization" in "Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance", where red seawater was restored. The figure depicts her in a relaxing sitting pose, holding a thermos filled with miso soup. The sculpted details accurately reproduce the folds of her uniform, her fair calves appear delicate and flawless, and the slightly parted eyes, characteristic of Yoshiyuki Sadamoto's art, are printed, showcasing Rei Ayanami's gentle image!
