This classic kit is the 2022 re-release version, with its initial release dating back to 1997. After acquiring it, it remained in storage until a client inquired about it, at which point I decided to part with it and paint it according to their commission. This was my first time working on a Sakai Yuji kit, so I kept a detailed record. After previously working on D-tech SD kits, I had hoped this kit wouldn't present issues with fit or missing details, but alas, it did (chuckles wryly).
In addition to fixing the fit, King Ghidorah's scales required re-sculpting and filling to ensure a seamless texture. A significant amount of time was truly spent on re-creating Ghidorah's texture for this kit. Finally, according to the client's request, King Ghidorah was airbrushed with a copper-toned metallic paint. Transparent colors were used to add depth, and enamel washes were applied to bring out the layers, enhancing the overall sense of weight and presence. The original molded color of the kit was perfectly suited for the teeth and claws, allowing these areas to retain a translucent quality after painting. I'm delighted to have completed this classic kit, and I hope everyone enjoys it!
