Japan's TAKARA TOMY company's toy brand T-ARTS will release a very interesting animal-themed gashapon series in mid-July, which is similar to a Japanese pun: "Birds Who Act Like Kings" (tentative translation, 王様気鳥-おうさまきどり-)! The suggested retail price is 300 JPY per capsule, and there are four types to collect in total.

This gashapon series is based on the interesting concept of "birds acting as kings," and it has been thoroughly supervised by a planner who keeps parrots. At a height of 3-5 cm, the birds' silhouettes, feather textures and gradient colors, plump wings, and incredibly gorgeous and eye-catching royal decorations are meticulously sculpted! Including crowns, red fur coats, and scepters, coupled with realistic anthropomorphic poses, it truly conveys an atmosphere of "This bird king is no ordinary bird!" There are the round white "King of Long-tailed Tits," the "King of Green Budgerigars," the "King of Blue Budgerigars," and the jet-black, awe-inspiring "King of Crows." The crow really looks like a human!
Next, let's talk about the cleverness in the Japanese product name. First, 「王様」(おうさま) means king. And 「気鳥」(きどり) is a combination of 「気取り」(きどり) and 「鳥」(とり). 「気取り」(気取り) in Japanese means to put on airs, or to act as if one is... and it sounds very similar to 「鳥」(とり), meaning bird. When combined, it becomes this "Birds Who Act Like Kings"! It's absolutely adorable! I love it, I'll get a whole set.
