Issued by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., the "S.H.Figuarts (Shinkocchou Seihou)" series, which sculpts from the skeletal structure to give tokusatsu heroes their original cool appearance and natural articulation, has announced the latest product from the original "Kamen Rider," the "Kamen Rider 1 (Sakurajima Ver.) Glorious Showa Rider Edition," scheduled for release in September 2025. This product is a limited edition item to commemorate the offline event "TAMASHII NATIONS LIVE ACTION FIGURE EXPO." In the original "Kamen Rider," due to an accident during filming that required lead actor Hiroshi Fujioka, who played Takeshi Hongo, to recuperate, the production team introduced Hayato Ichimonji/Kamen Rider 2, played by Takeshi Sasaki, as another hero, while Takeshi Hongo temporarily left under the pretext of going to Europe for support. He only briefly returned in episodes 40 and 41. Fans then named the Kamen Rider 1 who appeared in these two episodes, set on Sakurajima, as "Sakurajima 1."
The "S.H.Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Kamen Rider 1 (Sakurajima Ver.) Glorious Showa Rider Edition" is a modified version based on the previously released standard edition. Its overall design has been meticulously researched using relevant in-show data and photos from that era, sculpting the physique and proportions of the actor in the suit at the time. It largely restores details such as the helmet, belt, and leather suit wrinkles, and the overall paint scheme has been adjusted to match the Sakurajima version that appeared in episodes 40 and 41.
At the same time, the entire body utilizes the articulation technology cultivated over many years in the S.H.Figuarts series, providing articulation splits that are less prone to revealing internal parts and extremely flexible joints, allowing for iconic combat poses such as the "Rider Kick." For the red scarf, in addition to two interchangeable PVC parts with different shapes, a new fabric scarf has been added, which can be posed to simulate fluttering fabric thanks to an embedded metal wire.
