BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd.'s TAMASHII NATIONS collector's toy division in Japan has announced the latest product from the 'METAL ROBOT Damashii' series, which combines metallic paint finishes and an alloy frame, the 'Wing Gundam' from 'Mobile Suit Gundam Wing', slated for release in January 2026.
The XXXG-01W Wing Gundam is a mobile suit developed by Doctor J based on data from the Wing Gundam Zero, piloted by protagonist 'Heero Yuy', and deployed in 'Operation Meteor' against the Earth Sphere Unified Alliance (OZ). This unit largely inherits the characteristics of the Wing Gundam Zero, possessing extremely high mobility and the ability to transform into the high-speed 'Bird Mode'. Its armaments are also not to be underestimated; its main weapon, the 'Buster Rifle', boasts battleship-class firepower and powerful penetration, causing significant damage to enemy mobile suits in its beam path. A 'self-destruct device' is installed to prevent the enemy from acquiring confidential machine data.
The 'METAL ROBOT Damashii Wing Gundam' is crafted with an articulated specification, standing approximately 14 cm tall. It is based on the TV anime's silhouette and body proportions, precisely recreating the sharp and formidable head, the thruster nozzles throughout the entire unit, and the substantial back wings and armaments. There are almost no additional panel lines or split armor designs beyond the original settings, allowing for an authentic appreciation of the anime's refined and cool aesthetic.
The main frame of the unit's torso is constructed with electroplated alloy parts, providing not only robust joint strength but also a visual metallic texture and a satisfying weight when handled. The entire unit's coloring utilizes various matte and metallic paints, enhancing its sense of heft. The markings printed on various parts of the fuselage feature original designs, with high-resolution text printed in abundance, elevating the realism as a mobile weapon.
In addition to the original deployment mechanism of the back wings, the armor at the wingtips now features a new sliding mechanism, further expanding the size when the wings are spread. The armaments include the impressively sized main weapon, the 'Buster Rifle', a 'Shield' that recreates the beam saber storage mechanism, and a 'Beam Saber' complete with a dynamic slashing effect. Furthermore, the transformation mechanism into the elegantly contoured 'Bird Mode' is also faithfully reproduced.
