Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company HOBBY Division is set to release the latest product from the anime "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX", the "HG 1/144 GFreD", on August 2, 2025. The official channels have also released new information, including the product box art design and actual sample images, ahead of its launch.
gMS-κ Gundam FreD is the second Gundam QuuuuuuX unit developed by the Principality of Zeon's Kycilia Zabi faction in the lunar city of Granada, with Nean, who joined the Zeon army, serving as its pilot. This unit's body structure adopts the same design system as the GQuuuuuuX and is equipped with the "κ (KAPPA) type Psycho-Comm System" which can leverage the advantages of Newtype pilots. This system not only allows for intuitive control of the mobile suit through the pilot's brainwaves and remote operation of a pair of miniaturized funnel weapons in the head, but also enables connection with the strategic weapon "Iomagnus", using the power of Sharon's Rose (Elmes) to cause a massive "Zeck Nova" phenomenon at specific coordinates.
The "HG 1/144 GFreD" is a modification of the GQuuuuuuX kit, utilizing new molding colors to reproduce its unique multi-purple and green body colors. New parts are used to create a head sculpt different from the GQuuuuuuX, featuring miniaturized funnels. The head comes with two interchangeable parts, "non-deployed state" and "deployed state", to recreate the appearance when the "κ type Psycho-Comm System" is off or activated.
Aside from new parts used for the conical twin shoulder nozzles and the area around the backpack thruster nozzles, the overall body design is essentially the same as the GQuuuuuuX, featuring equally flexible articulation to achieve dynamic and powerful combat poses from the show. Armaments also include a beam rifle, shield, and beam saber of the same specifications, with the beam saber effect parts changed to clear purple molding. The funnels on both sides of the head and the core fighter integrated with the backpack can be detached individually, allowing for recreation of flight mode with a separately sold display stand.
