Bandai's GASHAPON division, a popular name in Japanese capsule toys, is set to release a new product under its popular "Machibouke" (Waiting) series, featuring the classic and beloved IP "Ocha-ken" (Tea Dogs). This new "Ocha-ken Waiting" gashapon series will have a reference price of 300 JPY per capsule and is scheduled to launch in the first week of August 2025!
"Ocha-ken" is a healing character series jointly developed by SEGA Toys and Horipro in 2002. Its purpose was to alleviate the fatigue of modern people burdened by daily work and stress. The series even had a TV anime adaptation in 2006 and collaborated with numerous companies, including McDonald's, to release a variety of merchandise. It undoubtedly holds cherished childhood memories for many toy enthusiasts from the 90s and 2000s!
This "Ocha-ken Waiting" gashapon series features the Ocha-ken in various waiting poses, either sitting or lying down. The collection includes five adorable types: Ryoku the Green Tea Dog (リョク), Hana the Flower Tea Dog (ハナ), Chai the Milk Tea Dog (チャイ), Earl the Black Tea Dog (アール), and Ron the Oolong Tea Dog (ロン). Each Ocha-ken's unique design is faithfully sculpted, with meticulous paintwork reproducing details like their tea leaf ears and body decorations. Seeing them lined up, patiently waiting, makes you just want to scoop them all up!
