Bandai's GASHAPON capsule toy division is once again releasing a new product based on the classic animated film "Summer Wars" – the "Summer Wars Marker Charms" capsule toy. The suggested retail price is 300 JPY per turn, and it is scheduled to launch in the fourth week of August 2025!
Released in 2009, "Summer Wars" was directed by renowned animation director Mamoru Hosoda and animated by MADHOUSE. It tells the story of a world where a massive virtual world called "OZ" has become an online platform influencing every aspect of people's lives. The protagonist, Kenji Koiso, is asked by his crush, Natsuki Shinohara, to pretend to be her boyfriend and return to Natsuki's family home in Nagano Prefecture for her grandmother's 90th birthday. While Kenji is amazed by the size of Natsuki's family, a super powerful computer virus appears and begins to infiltrate OZ...
GASHAPON's Marker Charm series features a rubber ring attached to the charm, allowing it to be placed on items like umbrellas or water bottles for identification, preventing mix-ups! This "Summer Wars Marker Charms" capsule toy collection brings to life the characters' virtual avatars from the world of OZ. The charm bodies are made of clear colored material with paintwork, recreating the characters' designs in an adorable proportion. The collection includes five types: Kenji's temporary avatar used after his original avatar was taken by the virus, Natsuki's cousin Kazuma's virtual avatar King Kazma, Natsuki's avatar, Natsuki's great-uncle Riichi Jinnouchi's avatar, and Kenji's avatar possessed by Love Machine. Whether hung on a bag as a regular charm or used to mark an umbrella, they are quite eye-catching, as if returning to that thrilling summer!
