Released by the TAMASHII NATIONS collectors division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS, the blind box trading figure series based on the globally sensational Japanese hit "ONE PIECE," "LUFFY's Memories of Adventure [Vol.1]," goes on sale today, August 8, 2025! Today, the Toy People editorial team is diving right in for a quick hands-on review, bringing all you toy lovers a firsthand unboxing report. So, let's get started!
Inspired by the protagonist of "One Piece," "Straw Hat Luffy," and conceived from the shape of the "I" in the ONE PIECE logo, the LUFFY's figure is brought to life in a 1/20 scale, 8.6 cm tall format. It boasts trendy, rounded lines and a sophisticated style. Thanks to Luffy's immense popularity both at home and abroad, the silhouette of LUFFY's alone is instantly recognizable as a "One Piece" themed product. Combined with elements from characters, classic logos, and iconic scenes from the manga and anime, one can easily imagine the future development potential and possibilities this toy series holds.
This first volume, "LUFFY's Memories of Adventure [Vol.1]," includes a total of ten different designs, which can be divided into three main categories: "Comics & Animation," "Character," and "Logo & Icon," plus one secret version. In addition to standard printing, water transfer printing (hydrographic printing) technology is also used, and the figures feature both a glossy finish (ツヤ仕様) for a brilliant sheen and a matte finish (マット仕様). Collecting multiples allows your LUFFY's display to showcase not only a variety of patterns but also a rich texture and depth.
▼ The overall packaging box features a reddish-orange color scheme, with the orange-yellow LUFFY's series logo in the center of the front. It even incorporates Luffy's characteristics as a rubber man! The sides feature line art of the LUFFY's figure from various angles.
▼ The top shows a preview of all the available designs.
▼ Let's open it up! A master case contains a total of 10 individual boxes.
▼ Each small box also clearly displays all the designs and has a "1" printed on the LUFFY's silhouette on the front, representing "Memories of Adventure [Vol.1]".
▼ The actual figure is basically the exact same size as the silhouette on the box.
■ CHARACTERFirst up are the three character designs, featuring the man who started it all for the Straw Hat Pirates, "Monkey D. Luffy," and the first two crewmates he met: "Roronoa Zoro" and "Nami." All are presented in their classic outfits from the East Blue Saga.
Monkey D. Luffy (East Blue)
▼ In addition to capturing his wide grin, you can also spot another of Luffy's classic features on his face: the scar from his childhood.
Roronoa Zoro (East Blue)
Nami (East Blue)
▼ Displaying them together really creates a thrilling atmosphere of the team assembling! And it's so stylish!
▼ Turning them around reveals the sculpted LUFFY's series logo on the back.
■ LOGO & ICONNext is a personal favorite of this editor: To Be Continued! The memorable "TO BE CONTINUED" screen is presented on an all-black LUFFY's figure, creating a high-contrast visual impact.
TO BE CONTINUED
■ COMICS & ANIMATIONThe third category features designs based on famous scenes from the manga and anime, created using a full-wrap water transfer printing technique. What this editor finds most interesting here is the uniqueness that comes from the fact that even within the same design, the print application is not exactly the same. Take the wanted poster design in the image below as an example. The official photos show three different print variations, but the one this editor has is different still. This means that even with the same design, you can chase after specific pattern placements!
Marineford Summit War Saga
Wanted Posters: New Four Emperors
Manga Volume 106
▼ This is my personal favorite print from this set! Luffy's face is printed perfectly on the LUFFY's face area, and it just gets funnier the more I look at it.
I'm gonna be King of the Pirates!!!!
▼ Seeing Oda-sensei's early art style is an instant trip back to childhood!
TV Anime: Wano Country Arc
▼ The pattern on top of the straw hat is also full of great details.
▼ Placing the glossy and matte finish LUFFY's figures together really highlights the difference.
▼ The secret version appears! Based on this editor's personal experience, this might be from a cover of "Weekly Shonen Jump." Do any of you toy lovers out there know the answer~?
▼ As expected of a secret version! The gold on the back has a very premium feel.
And that's a wrap for our look at the "LUFFY's Memories of Adventure [Vol.1]" blind box trading figures. Which design is your favorite, fellow toy lovers? Feel free to join the discussion in the comments section. See you next time!
