The HOBBY Division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company has announced the latest product from the 'HG (High Grade)' series of 1/144 scale Gunpla, known for its diverse range of mobile suits, the 'HG 1/144 GM SLOEP' from 'Mobile Suit Gundam MSD', slated for release in October 2025.
The RGM-79U GM SLOEP is the Earth Federation Forces' first amphibious mobile suit developed during the One Year War. It is a pressure-resistant modification of the standard GM, featuring a massive underwater backpack equipped with ballast tanks and hydrojet engines. Auxiliary ballast tanks are also installed on both sides of its legs, allowing it to move by submerging in deep water. It can search for enemy units and gather intelligence using its handheld sonar gun.
The 'HG 1/144 GM SLOEP' is based on previous MSD version GM series kits, utilizing newly sculpted parts to recreate its distinctive equipment such as the underwater backpack, auxiliary ballast tanks, and sonar gun. Each part also uses new molding colors to reproduce its characteristic white and green paint scheme. The backpack parts can swing up and down from their base, and the underwater wings on both sides of the backpack feature telescopic and rotating mechanisms. The 'sensor ball' in the center of the backpack has an antenna deployment mechanism and can even connect to a single-core wire part to recreate its deployed state. Furthermore, accessories also include a beam spray gun, which was not mentioned in the original setting, allowing for combat poses beyond reconnaissance.
