Released by SQUARE ENIX Co., Ltd. of Japan, the new series of articulated action figures, 'PLAY ARTS KAI -TRUE-', evolved from 'PLAY ARTS KAI', has announced the latest product from their game "Final Fantasy IX", "Zidane Tribal", scheduled for release in February 2026.
The protagonist, Zidane Tribal, was originally an orphan who lost his childhood memories. He later joined a bandit group disguised as a theater troupe. Although his personality is overly flippant, he never ignores those in need of help. On one occasion, the bandit group arrived in Alexandria, attempting to kidnap Princess Garnet during a theatrical performance. However, the princess, in turn, entrusted Zidane to help her escape the city. Subsequently, he met companions such as Vivi, a Black Mage soldier created as a weapon, and Steiner, the captain of the knight's guard searching for the princess... embarking on a journey to find the meaning of life in a cruel yet beautiful world.
The "PLAY ARTS KAI -TRUE- Zidane Tribal" is produced with an articulated specification, standing approximately 22.3 cm tall. The articulated body is an improvement based on the 'PLAY ARTS KAI' series, featuring new joint parts and hip joint design. Furthermore, the previous ratchet articulation mechanism has been removed, allowing for a smoother and wider range of motion. In addition, the eyeball parts are newly equipped with an articulation mechanism, allowing for changes in gaze to match body movements.
The overall sculpt is based on the game's design drafts, faithfully reproducing the costume design, golden hair, and tail. It meticulously captures the leather texture of parts like the belt and boots. Accessories include two different expression parts and interchangeable tail parts. The dagger in the waist sheath can be removed, and it also comes with his iconic dual-blade weapon, "Mage Masher", allowing for dynamic poses wielding the dual blades with its various articulated joints.
