The HOBBY Division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS company has announced the latest product from the 'HG (High Grade)' series, the most diverse 1/144 scale Gunpla lineup. The "Legend Gundam" from the anime Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY is scheduled for release in January 2026.
The ZGMF-X666S Legend Gundam is a mobile suit piloted by Rey Za Burrel, a clone with the same genes as Rau Le Creuset. To realize the "Destiny Plan" advocated by his foster father, Chairman Gilbert Durandal, Rey engaged in a decisive battle with Kira Yamato's Strike Freedom Gundam. This machine evolved from the Providence Gundam piloted by Le Creuset in the previous great war, featuring a second-generation DRAGOON System on its back. This system significantly enhances the pilot's spatial awareness, allowing for wireless control of the ten back-mounted DRAGOON armaments, the "Assault Beam Machine Guns," to launch all-range attacks.
This product has been thoroughly revamped using modern technology, boasting a taller, more stylish body proportion and richer armor detail compared to the old version. It also incorporates improvements from the "SEED Action System" featured in a series of products from the movie Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM, making the articulation throughout the body more flexible. The massive backpack features multiple movable axes, allowing it to rotate in various directions.
Armaments include the High-Energy Beam Rifle, Valiant Beam Halberd, and Beam Shield. The handle of the Beam Halberd can be stored in the leg armor, and the Beam Shield is rendered with clear parts featuring intricate patterns. All eight small and two large "Assault Beam Machine Guns" on the backpack can be detached, and two sets of beam effects are included. These can be combined with a separately sold universal display stand to recreate all-range attack scenes.
