GASHAPON, the gashapon toy brand from Japan's Bandai Co., Ltd., has announced the release of the second wave of its transforming robot-themed gashapon toy series, "Capsule Guardian". The second product, "Capsule Guardian II", is scheduled for release in December 2025.
The product concept and transformation mechanism of "Capsule Guardian" were co-designed by PLEX Corporation. The product's appearance looks just like the common upper and lower sealed gashapon capsules found in gashapon machines. In reality, the capsule contains a precise transformation mechanism. After disassembling the upper and lower capsule halves, each can transform into an upper and lower body part. Once assembled, they form a robot approximately 15 cm tall with 21 points of articulation.
This series has virtually no backstory, only near-future style robots that transform from gashapon capsules into Guardian forms, and the mysterious "Mechanical Beasts" that fight alongside them. Beyond that, everything is left blank, allowing players to imagine the reasons for transformation, the names of the Guardians, the characters' backgrounds, and more.
The second wave features further improvements based on the previous release. New articulation mechanisms have been added to the four armor plate bases around the shoulder joints of the upper body, resulting in a total of 25 points of articulation and reduced interference with arm movement. The product lineup includes three transforming robot main bodies: "Alligator Guardian", "Rhino Guardian", and "Bat Guardian", as well as three support Mechanical Beasts: "Armored Alligator", "Armored Rhino", and "Armored Bat". The bodies of the Mechanical Beasts can be disassembled into various weapons such as "Great Sword", "Missile Launcher", and "Twin Scythes" for the Guardians to equip!
