Bushiroad Creative's palm-sized chibi character figure series, "PalVerse," has announced the first wave of products from the popular manga "Gintama," titled "Gintama vol.1," scheduled for release on February 27, 2026.
"Gintama" is a shonen manga created by Japanese manga artist Hideaki Sorachi, serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" from 2004 to 2018. The story is set during the late Edo period, around the Meiji Restoration, where aliens known as "Amanto" arrive in Japan aboard spaceships. This leads to a war between humans and Amanto, but the Shogunate, witnessing the Amanto's power, quickly bows down and signs an unequal treaty. In this era, the protagonist, Sakata Gintoki, who runs the "Yorozuya," lives life his own way, experiencing both absurd and serious daily events with his companions, Shimura Shinpachi and Kagura. After both the manga and anime concluded, a spin-off light novel, "Gintama: Class 3-Z Ginpachi-sensei," was also announced to be adapted into a TV anime, scheduled to air starting October 2025.
The "PalVerse" series features chibi character figures developed under the concept of "A New World in Your Palm." It presents characters from various fields such as anime, games, and Vtuber with next-generation designs, characterized by their cute palm-sized form, affordable price range for easy collection, and blind box design where you don't know which character you'll get. This product will include six popular male characters: Sakata Gintoki, Hijikata Toushirou, Okita Sougo, Katsura Kotarou, Takasugi Shinsuke, and Kamui.
