BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd.'s collector's toy division, TAMASHII NATIONS, has announced the latest addition to its 'S.H.Figuarts (Shinkocchou Seihou)' series, which sculpts from the skeletal structure to give tokusatsu heroes their original cool appearance and natural articulation. The new release, 'Ultraman Tiga Sky Type,' from "Ultraman Tiga," is scheduled for release in February 2026.
In its lore, Ultraman Tiga is an ancient "Giant of Light" who protected Earth 30 million years ago. After defeating the Dark Demon, his body turned into a stone statue, slumbering in a pyramid deep in the mountains. 30 million years later, he merged with GUTS member Daigo Madoka to once again confront the Dark Evil God Gatanothor, who sought to destroy civilization. This work was the first to introduce the concept of form changes, allowing Tiga to switch between Multi Type (balancing power and speed), Sky Type (specializing in speed and technique), and Power Type (specializing in strength and endurance).
The "Ultraman Tiga Sky Type" has been thoroughly supervised by Tsuburaya Productions' LSS modeling department. The physique of action actor Shunsuke Gondo, who wore the Tiga suit at the time, was digitized using full-body 3D scanning. Furthermore, Mr. Minoru Narita, who created the original Tiga suit, was invited to oversee the product's prototype creation, ensuring a complete recreation of the on-screen appearance at an approximate height of 15 cm.
Concurrently, the entire body features precise articulation divisions and joint designs. With a wealth of movable joints in the neck, shoulders, elbows, knees, ankles, and more, the torso's chest, abdomen, and hips are made of soft material. This significantly reduces interference between joints and expands the range of motion. The hip joints utilize a pull-out design, allowing for dynamic poses such as high-speed aerial flight and mid-air kicks.
Accessories include 6 types of interchangeable hand parts for both left and right hands. These hand shapes were also created by scanning Shunsuke Gondo's hands, meticulously capturing the subtle details of the fingertips. These sculpted hands can be used to recreate famous scenes such as the wide-open palm upon landing, the instant leap after receiving light from people, and, when combined with effect parts, the special move "Ranbalt Light Bullet."
