The popular assembly model candy toy series 『SHOKUGAN MODELING PROJECT』, released by BANDAI CANDY, the Candy Toy division of Bandai Co., Ltd. Japan, has announced the latest product from Go Nagai's classic robot work, "Mazinger Z", scheduled for release in April 2026.
In the anime version of Mazinger Z, Dr. Juzo Kabuto, to thwart Dr. Hell's ambition of world domination, secretly spent 15 years building the super robot "Mazinger Z", powered by Photonic Energy and constructed from Super Alloy Z. However, Juzo Kabuto was attacked and killed by the Iron Masked Army at the beginning of the story. Before his death, he entrusted Mazinger Z and his dying wish to fight Dr. Hell to his grandson, Koji Kabuto, who then used powerful armaments such as Photonic Beam, Rocket Punch, and Breast Fire to defend against Dr. Hell's Mechanical Beast Army.
The "SMP Mazinger Z" uses multiple molded color parts to create a Mazinger Z approximately 13.5 cm tall. The model's color scheme inherits the "Chogokin" toy released during the anime's original broadcast, expressing the weighty feel of the silver parts. The small fighter "Pilder" also features precise sculpting, and its folded wing state can be recreated by swapping parts, allowing it to combine with Mazinger Z's head.
The Mazinger Z body features a refined design faithful to the original work and flexible articulated joint design. The hip joints adopt a pull-out design to expand the range of motion for the lower body, allowing for poses such as high kneeling and the signature Breast Fire stance. The arm parts can also be separated from the elbow joints at any time to recreate the "Rocket Punch" attack.
