"Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" Gets a Werewolf-Style Board Game, Featuring Frieren & Aura on the Cover! Fans React: "Travel Companions, Indeed!"

After its first season wrapped up last March to widespread acclaim, Frieren: Beyond Journey's End has seen its characters explode in popularity, sparking a merchandising frenzy. And the good news keeps coming: Season 2 of the anime is set to drop in January 2026!

Now, fans can dive deeper into the world with an official Werewolf-style card board game! This brain-bending game pits humans against demons in a strategic showdown, where players must use their wits and words to unmask the true demonic threats. Mark your calendars: it officially drops on December 18.

The game's cover and several cards boast brand-new illustrations specially drawn by Tsukasa Abe, the manga artist behind Frieren: Beyond Journey's End. Fans are buzzing over the fresh artwork of Frieren and Aura, especially since the fan-favorite Aura finally gets to share the spotlight on the game's cover with Frieren. Talk about an unexpected team-up!

Even though "Aura the Guillotine" had a pretty fleeting run in both the manga and anime—basically just a one-off demon boss—her star power absolutely exploded post-anime. Her unique blend of cute, unhinged, and even self-deprecating charm captivated tons of fans. She even snagged second place in the official second character poll, right behind Himmel, leading to the running gag that "Aura is a travel companion."

▼ It's a running joke among fans: Aura, Frieren's former arch-nemesis, is now back as a "travel companion" on the board game cover. The irony is delicious!

Here's the setup: cunning demons are hiding among the human ranks, ready to trick everyone with their silver tongues. Your mission? Root them out and banish them using the infamous "murder magic"—a demon-developed spell that Frieren herself researched and popularized!

There's also a "Treasure Chest Identification Magic" mechanic. Successfully sniff out a Mimic's trap, and you'll live to play another round!
