The HOBBY Division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd. has announced the latest product from the game "Mobile Suit Gundam Battlefield Record," the "HG 1/144 Gundam Unit 7," scheduled for release in December 2025. This is part of the 1/144 scale Gunpla 'HG (High Grade)' series, known for its most diverse range of mobile suits.
The RX-78-7 Gundam Unit 7 first appeared in the mechanical design project 'M-MSV' serialized in Bandai's magazine "SD CLUB," where it was set as the last mobile suit developed in the RX-78 series. Later, it appeared as the main mobile suit in the PS3 game "Mobile Suit Gundam Battlefield Record," released in 2009, with its exterior design revamped by mechanical designer Katoki Hajime. In the game, Gundam Unit 7 was piloted by Hugues Courand, the leader of the "Phantom Sweeper Team," a special guerrilla unit tasked with sweeping up Zeon remnants.
The "HG 1/144 Gundam Unit 7" features a completely new mold to reproduce the design revamped by mechanical designer Katoki Hajime for the game. It faithfully recreates the unique armor, distinct from other RX-78 series mobile suits, the high-mobility backpack equipped with 6 thrusters, beam rifle, beam saber, and shield with rich detail. The kit also boasts modern HG-level articulation; with forearm horizontal rotation mechanisms at the elbows and interlocking mechanisms in the knee joints that reveal parts of the internal structure, it can be posed in various dynamic combat stances.
