BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division in Japan has announced the latest product from the theatrical anime "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM," the "HG 1/144 Strike Freedom Gundam Type II & Wings of Light Effect Set," from its most diverse 1/144 scale Gunpla "HG (High Grade)" series, will be available for sale on Bandai's official online store, PREMIUM BANDAI.
The protagonist Kira Yamato's new mobile suit, the ZGMF/A-262B Strike Freedom Gundam Type II, is a new machine improved with Orb's latest technology, after the Strike Freedom Gundam was shot down half a year before the main story of "FREEDOM" following an unsuccessful terrorist attempt to steal it. Although its external appearance hasn't changed much, in reality, all its armaments, except for the high-energy beam rifle, have been updated to new specifications. It also secretly houses a powerful "Convergent Heavy Nuclear Beam Cannon" in its forehead, but due to its excessive destructive power and high energy consumption, among other reasons, it cannot be used in this form.
The "HG 1/144 Strike Freedom Gundam Type II & Wings of Light Effect Set" will include both the Strike Freedom Gundam Type II main unit and magnificent Wings of Light effect parts. Although the main unit reuses parts from the previously released "HG Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam," the "Super DRAGOON" mobile weapon wing parts on its back appear to be identical to those from the 2016 "HGCE 1/144 Strike Freedom Gundam" kit. The Wings of Light effect, however, is a new design, made with "polarized resin" that changes color depending on the viewing angle.
