The HOBBY Division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS company, which offers the most diverse range of 1/144 scale Gunpla in the 'HG (High Grade)' series, has announced the commercialization of its latest release,"HG 1/144 Gundam Sandrock Custom EW" from the anime "Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz". It is scheduled for release in June 2026.
The XXXG-01SR2 Gundam Sandrock Custom EW is a mobile suit piloted by Quatre Raberba Winner, one of the five main protagonists in the series. In terms of setting, the OVA "Endless Waltz" version and the TV version of "Gundam Sandrock Custom" are the same mobile suit. However, the "Endless Waltz" version had its exterior and armaments redesigned by mechanical designer Katoki Hajime, discarding armaments such as the TV version's missiles and beam machine gun. Instead, it simply uses two Heat Shotels and a Vulcan cannon in combat, and added an Anti-Beam Cloak, which greatly enhanced its cool factor.
Currently, the "HG 1/144 Gundam Sandrock Custom EW" was first exhibited today at the "All Japan Model & Hobby Show". In 1/144 scale, intricate armor details are sculpted, recreating the elaborate head and shoulder designs, as well as the massive main weapon, the "Heat Shotel". The mobile suit's most distinctive equipment, the "Anti-Beam Cloak," is made from a new soft material and can be freely detached.
