The HOBBY Division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS company, which incorporates exterior armor, internal frame, interlocking armor, and new technologies into its 1/144 scale Gunpla 'RG (Real Grade)' series, has announced the latest product from the novel "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack - Beltorchika's Children": the "RG 1/144 Hi-Nu Gundam Exclusive Hyper Mega Bazooka Launcher & Fin Funnel Display Set", scheduled for release in November 2025. This product will be sold exclusively on BANDAI's official online store, PREMIUM BANDAI.
The Hyper Mega Bazooka Launcher first appeared in the novel version of Char's Counterattack, "Beltorchika's Children," as a super-large beam weapon used by the Earth Federation Forces' Londo Bell unit. It allows Amuro's Hi-Nu Gundam to aim and fire a MEGA particle cannon with power exceeding that of a battleship. In the novel, it was used to destroy the nuclear propulsion engine pushing Axis down, and even a Musaka-class battleship, known as the "Shield of Axis," was sunk in one shot. However, due to its massive size, it cannot be carried and is normally stored in the Londo Bell's Ra Cailum battleship, requiring power from the entire battleship when used.
This time, the Hyper Mega Bazooka Launcher included in the "RG 1/144 Hi-Nu Gundam Exclusive Hyper Mega Bazooka Launcher & Fin Funnel Display Set" features a newly sculpted design that recreates the original novel version's setting, differing from the design newly set by mechanical designer Takayuki Yanase for the 2021 manga version of "Beltorchika's Children". It boasts an impressive total length of 30 cm, with the texture differences of various parts of the cannon body reproduced with multiple molded part colors. It can be combined with the separately sold Hi-Nu Gundam main unit, dedicated stand, and energy cable to recreate cool shooting poses.
In addition, the product also includes beam effect parts for the "Fin Funnels" armament and a dedicated display stand. The beam effects are designed to represent three stages of firing, with two sets of parts for each of the three stages that can be attached to all six Fin Funnels. They can also be connected to clear molded movable stands to display an all-range attack scene.
