Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Collectors Division, TAMASHII NATIONS, has announced the commercialization of the "ASTRO & Dual Speeder" under its classic "Chogokin" die-cast toy series. This new release is based on the popular PS5 game "Astro Bot," with a release date yet to be determined.
Released in 2024 as a PS5 console exclusive, "Astro Bot" is an action-adventure game developed by Team ASOBI, a division of Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Studio. Players take on the role of the adorable robot ASTRO, embarking on a quest to find his scattered robot crew members after the PS5® mothership is destroyed. The game's level design draws inspiration from titles like Nintendo's "Super Mario Bros." series, seamlessly integrating the DualSense wireless controller's haptic feedback and built-in speaker functions for an immersive adventure. "Astro Bot" garnered significant acclaim, winning four awards at TGA 2024, including Game of the Year and Best Action/Adventure Game.
The "Chogokin Astro Bot & Dual Speeder" set is expected to include the charming ASTRO robot figure and his in-game vehicle, the Dual Speeder. Based on the currently released product previews, ASTRO is faithfully recreated with his signature round body and articulated limbs. The Dual Speeder meticulously replicates the iconic shape of the DualSense wireless controller, featuring rich mechanical details. Its side wings and rear thrusters are deployable, and the eye expression on the touchpad area changes dynamically depending on the viewing angle.
