Following the release of the Sanrio Characters-themed Sushi and Sushi Vol. 2, T-ARTS, the toy brand under Japan's TAKARA TOMY Company, is set to launch a new series combining different cuisines in November 2025: "Sanrio Characters Tempura" (サンリオキャラクターズ 天麩羅 -tempura-)! The suggested retail price is 300 JPY per capsule, with a total of five designs to collect.
According to currently released information, this series will feature figures approximately 3.8 to 4.5 cm tall. While fully reproducing the characteristic shapes and proportions of each Sanrio character, they also feature a golden batter-like paint finish, reminiscent of tempura, and each character has a corresponding ingredient! These include "Hello Kitty Shrimp Tempura," "My Melody Sweet Potato Tempura," "Cinnamoroll Chikuwa Tempura," "Hangyodon Shishito Pepper Tempura," and "Pompompurin Mushroom Tempura."
Based on my personal experience collecting the previous "Sanrio Characters Sushi" series, this collection is excellent in terms of size, paint application, and fidelity to the original designs. Moreover, collecting multiple designs allows for more versatile display and photography. Once T-ARTS releases more and more, we can have a grand food battle with Sanrio characters! Just thinking about it is super cute!
