Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS HOBBY Division is set to release the latest product from the anime "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX," the "HG 1/144 Char's Zaku (GQ)," on December 6, 2025. Ahead of its release, official channels have unveiled new information, including the product's box art design and actual sample images.
The MS-06S Char's Zaku, which appears in "GQuuuuuuX," is, in terms of its setting, identical to the original "Mobile Suit Gundam." It is the custom unit for the Principality of Zeon's ace pilot, "Red Comet" Char Aznable, adjusted from the standard Zaku. He painted the fuselage in his preferred red hue, and the head adopted the commander unit specifications with a blade antenna. Its thrust is 30% higher than the standard model, but Char's piloting skills defy common sense, making it appear to others as if its speed has increased threefold. However, due to Char in the "GQuuuuuuX" timeline successfully acquiring a Gundam, the Zaku barely had any combat appearances in the series.
The "HG 1/144 Char's Zaku (GQ)" faithfully recreates Ikuto Yamashita's design style, which blends real-world industrial aesthetics with sci-fi elements. Compared to the original, it features unique designs such as thigh shapes composed of four spherical fuel tanks and large thrusters directly mounted on the rear of the legs. The kit utilizes new parts and new molding colors to reproduce the characteristic red paint scheme of Char's custom unit, the head with a blade antenna, shoulder armor different from the Zaku I, shoulder shield, and fuel tank shapes.
The mono-eye camera on the head and the connection points of the shoulder shield both feature movable mechanisms. The torso and limbs also boast highly flexible movable joint designs, allowing it to be posed in dynamic and powerful actions with armaments such as the Zaku Machine Gun, Heat Hawk, and the newly molded Zaku Bazooka.
