Japanese toy company Kotobukiya has announced its latest product from "The King of Fighters '98": the "Iori Yagami THE KING OF FIGHTERS '98 Ver." 1/8 scale PVC pre-painted complete figure! The suggested retail price is 22,000 JPY, and it is scheduled for release in July 2026.
The ever-popular antagonist from "The King of Fighters" series, "Iori Yagami," is the last descendant of the Yasakani clan and the sworn rival of protagonist Kyo Kusanagi. The Yagami family, originally named Yasakani, were guardians of the "Yasakani no Magatama," one of Japan's Three Sacred Treasures. However, out of jealousy for the Kusanagi family's power, they made a blood pact with the ancient demon Orochi (Yamata no Orochi), changing their surname to Yagami and gaining Orochi's blood. This also changed the color of their flame attacks from red to purple-blue, and their family was cursed with "mothers dying in childbirth and their descendants becoming violent," leading to fits of madness.
Kotobukiya's "Iori Yagami THE KING OF FIGHTERS '98 Ver." 1/8 scale figure stands approximately 25 cm tall, recreating Iori Yagami's iconic cool stance. His vibrant red hair, which would normally obscure half his face, is stiffly flowing upwards, allowing a full view of Iori's face from a side angle. The belt necklace, tight short leather jacket, and the straps on his pants that make you wonder how he walks... all exude an endlessly captivating chuunibyou charm! The purple flame effect part in his hand perfectly showcases his powerful abilities and can also be detached to display a defiant gesture!
Pre-order at the Kotobukiya official store to receive an exclusive bonus "interchangeable face part," recreating his sinister smile!
