Released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., the 'METAL ROBOT Damashii' series, which combines metallic paint finishes and alloy frames, has officially announced the latest product from 'Mobile Suit Gundam AGE', the 'Gundam AGE-2 Dark Hound', scheduled for release in June 2026.
The AGE-2DH Gundam AGE-2 Dark Hound is the mobile suit used by Asemu Asuno after he became Captain Ash, the leader of the space pirate Bisidian. This unit was repaired from a heavily damaged Gundam AGE-2. Its appearance was not only repainted in black, but it also features pirate characteristics such as a captain's hat and hook arms. For the purpose of Bisidian's plundering activities, this unit is equipped with numerous weapons suitable for assault and capture, including the 'Dods Lancer' for suppression and the 'Vibration Anchor' which can release powerful electric currents. When transformed into its Strider Mode, it possesses 'Hyper Boosters' that can tow multiple escort units for emergency escape.
The 'METAL ROBOT Damashii Gundam AGE-2 Dark Hound' is based on new design drafts specifically drawn for this product by mechanical designer Kanetake Ebikawa. While maintaining its anime appearance, it is given a cooler silhouette and high-density details. Precise parts are used to express the sharp edges of the armor and intricate mechanical structures. The main joints are made of electroplated alloy parts, giving the mobile suit both strength and a sense of weight. The entire unit is finished with metallic and matte colors, providing a more substantial paint application, and newly designed markings by Kanetake Ebikawa are printed on various parts.
Through the use of some auxiliary parts and the main unit's transformation mechanism, the Gundam AGE-2 Dark Hound can reproduce its fighter-like 'Strider Mode'. By replacing three landing gear parts, its 'Parked State' can be recreated. Furthermore, the legs are equipped with an original METAL ROBOT Damashii mechanism; by deploying various armor parts, the 'Hyper Boosters' that appeared in episode 48 of the anime can be reproduced.
Regarding weapon accessories, the 'Dods Lancer' can be equipped in both hands with increased stability thanks to auxiliary parts. The long and short 'Beam Sabers' can have their hilts stored in the skirt armor when not in use, and beam effects that can be attached to both ends are included. The 'Vibration Anchor' can reproduce its deployed state using a rope part. The stabilizers on both shoulders are equipped with an original METAL ROBOT Damashii movable mechanism; not only is the range of motion of the stabilizer's base axis increased, but the upper and lower armor parts of the stabilizers also feature deployment mechanisms, allowing for various mobile suit silhouettes to be posed.
