A staple under the BAYCREW'S Group, Japanese apparel brand JOURNAL STANDARD, which started as a select shop, has long been a favorite among Japanese fashion enthusiasts. Known for blending American vintage styles with global trend elements, the brand consistently delivers looks that are both classic and cutting-edge.
Recently, JOURNAL STANDARD announced an exciting collaboration with the beloved hot-blooded manga "Rokudenashi Blues." The collection features collaborative sweatshirts adorned with iconic scenes and cover art from the classic series. Priced at 14,300 JPY, these pieces are now available for pre-order on JOURNAL STANDARD's official online store.

"Rokudenashi Blues" (ろくでなしBLUES), a Japanese manga by Masanori Morita, kicked off its serialization in "Weekly Shonen Jump" in 1988. The story begins with delinquent Taison Maeda joining a boxing club, quickly evolving into a series of thrilling school battles. Its realistic character designs and heart-pumping sequences earned it widespread popularity, leading to 42 tankōbon volumes, video game adaptations, and a live-action drama.

This collaboration puts the spotlight on the series' hugely popular characters—Taison Maeda, Hiroto Ohba, and Masatoshi Ebihara—directly using original manga illustrations across five unique sweatshirt designs.
One standout design features the title page illustration from the final chapter, "LIKE A ROLLING STONE," depicting Taison Maeda with his fist triumphantly raised. This iconic moment symbolizes both an end and a new beginning, instantly bringing back the emotional impact of the finale for anyone who wears it.

Another design showcases a powerful duo shot of Taison and Masatoshi Ebihara, representing their deep, enduring friendship throughout the series. To perfectly complement this highly representative title page illustration, the sweatshirt comes in a sleek black body, creating a more sophisticated and stylish vibe.

The Hiroto design, aptly titled "ROLLING ON," captures his cool exterior that subtly masks an inner impulsiveness. Also presented in black, it’s a look that’s both effortlessly cool and understated.

Additionally, there's a design featuring the powerful phrase "No one shall be held in slavery"—a line often associated by fans with the Japanese punk rock band Hi-STANDARD. This is paired with an image of Hiroto as he navigates his own path and searches for identity amidst confusion.

The collection also includes a style that utilizes the dynamic cover art from tankōbon Volume 30. All designs intentionally forgo any extra embellishments, ensuring that the manga's inherent presence and artistic power take center stage.
