BANDAI SPIRITS' TAMASHII NATIONS collector's toy division in Japan has announced the latest product from the "METAL ROBOT魂 (Ka signature)" series, which features styling supervised by renowned mechanical designer KATOKI HAJIME, metallic paint finishes, and alloy frames. The "Ex-S Gundam [Re:Coordinate]" from "Gundam Sentinel" is scheduled for release in June 2026.
Appearing in "Gundam Sentinel," the protagonist mobile suit MSA-0011 S Gundam was a prototype developed by the Earth Federation Forces concurrently with the ZZ Gundam. Its development goal was to create the "ultimate Gundam," a composite armament system surpassing existing MS and weapon systems. The S Gundam is equipped with the artificial intelligence "A.L.I.C.E. System," which not only assists the pilot in controlling the mobile suit but is also expected to eventually replace the pilot, achieving "unmanned MS." Like the ZZ Gundam, the S Gundam also features a separable and combinable "Core Fighter System." However, the S Gundam can be further enhanced and expanded with different parts to suit mission requirements, transforming into the highly mobile "Ex-S Gundam" or even the monstrous, super-dreadnought "PLAN303E Deep Striker."
The "METAL ROBOT魂 (Ka signature) Ex-S Gundam [Re:Coordinate]" refreshes the overall part molding colors and paint scheme based on the regular version released in 2016. The distinctive splinter camouflage pattern across the entire mobile suit is meticulously reproduced using two different shades of blue, with the difference between the two blues being even more pronounced. Other areas also feature body markings designed by KATOKI HAJIME, along with various metallic and matte colors, giving both the exterior armor and mechanical structures a cool, heavy texture.
Some joint parts are made of alloy, providing both joint strength and a sense of weight, while also featuring armor-interlocking mechanisms that enhance the range of motion. In addition to the various body joints, movable designs include the opening and closing of the shoulder armor, the articulation of the stabilizers, and the angle adjustment mechanism of the thruster units, allowing for more subtle posing variations in the relatively crowded upper body structure.
Weapon accessories include the "Beam Smart Gun" with a built-in telescopic mechanism and a rotating disc radome, as well as two "Beam Sabers" and "INCOMs" that can be reproduced in their deployed state using cables and repeater parts. This version also adds a replaceable head part with red-painted twin cameras, allowing for the reproduction of the "A.L.I.C.E. System" activation!
