Following the announcement of the new technology-integrated play system, LEGO SMART Play, by the Danish LEGO Group at the 2026 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), three LEGO SMART Play products themed around the sci-fi epic Star Wars are set to officially launch on March 1, 2026. Let's take a closer look.
About LEGO SMART Play:
LEGO SMART Play is regarded by LEGO as the most significant evolution of the "LEGO System-in-Play" since the introduction of the LEGO Minifigure in 1978. This 2x4 LEGO SMART Brick will be equipped with sensors for light, sound, and motion, and will feature real-time audio-visual interactive effects. This means that with just this one brick, you can experience new levels of fun without needing a mobile phone or smart device. What's even better is that this brick supports wireless charging.
In addition to the LEGO SMART Brick, the LEGO SMART Play system also includes LEGO SMART Tags and LEGO SMART Minifigures, which can be seen as extensions of the LEGO SMART Brick play experience. Based on the information released so far, the LEGO SMART Brick can detect LEGO SMART Tags labeled as ducks or dinosaurs, not only emitting animal sounds but also providing different feedback based on your movement patterns when you move a model with LEGO SMART Tags installed.
The three Star Wars sets featuring the new LEGO SMART Play system, numbered 75421, 75423, and 75427, will each include the core LEGO SMART Brick. Additionally, they will come with varying numbers of LEGO SMART Tags and LEGO SMART Minifigures, depending on the set's specifications. This allows for enhanced interaction with classic Star Wars vehicles and scenes after assembly. Players can expect to experience battle laser sounds, lightsaber sounds, vehicle flight sounds, and lighting effects, among others, creating a more vivid and engaging play experience! The editor is personally super excited to see how the new minifigures will interact with the SMART Brick!
The yellow tablet device in the official images is believed to be the wireless charging pad for the LEGO SMART Brick. The sales format is currently unknown. The editor personally speculates that it will need to be purchased separately, which is also highly anticipated!
