Japan's Megahouse toy company, under its "Soft Vinyl Fantastic" soft vinyl series which combines sci-fi elements, will release its latest product: the "Sandworm" soft vinyl figure, based on the epic masterpiece Dune (1984). It will retail for 12,100 Japanese Yen and is scheduled for release in May 2026!
The "Sandworm" is a crucial and highly representative creature in the world of Dune, serving as the core of the planet Arrakis. In the traditional beliefs of the Fremen people, it is regarded as the creator and messenger of God. Sandworms are enormous in size, capable of acutely sensing vibrations and moving at high speeds through the desert. Their massive mouths, which seem capable of devouring everything, are filled with dense, grinder-like teeth. The spice produced by sandworms is widely used in the daily lives and religious rituals of the Fremen, and serves as a resource for trade with the outside world.
The "Soft Vinyl Fantastic Dune Sandworm" soft vinyl figure stands approximately 15 cm tall. The overall design adopts a chibi proportion, with its worm-like twisted body rendered in realistic colors. Details such as the internal membranes and teeth within the mouth, and the deep esophagus, are meticulously sculpted. The inclusion of a Paul Atreides figure riding on its back emphasizes its colossal size! The base also features sand and dust effects kicked up by the sandworm's movement, presenting a rich and unique style.
