Japanese figure manufacturer GOOD SMILE COMPANY has announced its latest product, the "Ruri Hoshino 1/7 Scale Figure", based on the theatrical anime film Martian Successor Nadesico: The Prince of Darkness, with an anticipated release in October 2026.
The highly popular character from Martian Successor Nadesico, Ruri Hoshino, was raised with "special education" from a young age. By the tender age of 11, she possessed an extraordinary genius intellect and exceptional battleship operating skills, earning her the moniker "Electronic Fairy." After joining the Nadesico as a crew member, Ruri, who rarely showed emotion, often felt distant from other members, treating the main computer "Omoikane" as her closest friend. It wasn't until Akito Tenkawa and others boarded the ship that she gradually became influenced by the lively atmosphere. After the war, she even became the adopted daughter of Akito Tenkawa and Yurika Misumaru. In the theatrical film The Prince of Darkness, where Ruri takes center stage, the 16-year-old has become the youngest major in the United Space Force's history and the captain of the battleship "Nadesico B."
This "Ruri Hoshino 1/7 Scale Figure" captures her adorable pose from the movie at age 16, as captain, displaying a gentle smile and a salute. Based on the original illustrations from that era, her dynamic twin-tail hairstyle is faithfully recreated, with the hair ties on both sides made from clear parts. The entire outfit is sculpted with clear and complete wrinkle lines, conveying the soft texture of the fabric.
The product also features rich color applications, faithfully reproducing Ruri's fair skin and charming facial features. Metallic ornaments and leather fabrics on various parts of her outfit are also painted with corresponding colors to recreate their textures. Notably, pearlescent paint has been applied to her hair and stockings, highlighting a unique luster.
The product's outer box will include a sleeve designed in a retro VHS videotape style. Furthermore, pre-ordering this item from the Good Smile Company online store will grant a limited bonus: a "Booklet inspired by anime magazines of that era," which includes a nostalgic tri-fold poster, a separate poster featuring product images, and an interview article with the production team.
