TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., is releasing a new product under its S.H.Figuarts "Shinkocchou Seihou" series based on "Kamen Rider Agito"—the "Kamen Rider Gills" action figure. It will have a suggested retail price of 11,000 JPY and is scheduled for release in December 2026!
Kamen Rider Gills's true identity is Ryo Ashihara, originally a highly talented swimmer. After a mysterious accident, his inner power awakened, transforming him into a wild form similar to Agito. Due to the incomplete state of his power, each transformation severely eroded his body and mind, plunging him into the agony of rapid aging. It wasn't until later, when he was revived with the psychic assistance of Mana Kazaya, that he was finally freed from the curse of aging.
This Kamen Rider Gills action figure stands approximately 14.5 cm tall. Referencing the initial Gills Form from the series, which was designed based on a longhorn beetle, it is crafted using the Shinkocchou Seihou method, realistically recreating the on-screen appearance by building up the sculpt layer by layer from the skeletal structure. The sculpting faithfully reproduces Gills' iconic, more organic image compared to Agito! The articulated joints are designed based on human anatomy, and the use of soft plastic materials in areas like the abdomen ensures that the perfect form is maintained even during dynamic poses!
Accessories include four pairs of interchangeable hands, an alternate head sculpt with an open mouth revealing sharp fangs. For weaponry, it comes with hand claws, the Gills Feeler (ギルスフィーラー) tentacles with internal wires for free bending, and heel claws on the legs. These can be combined with the figure's flexible articulation to recreate iconic dynamic poses, such as raising a leg high for a decisive blow against an enemy!
