WAVE "XEVIOUS" SOLVALOU Fighter Jet Plastic Model Kit: Relive Those Arcade Memories!

Japanese toy brand WAVE, known for releasing numerous robot models, is scheduled to re-release the plastic model kit of the fighter jet "SOLVALOU" (ソルバルウ) from the classic 80s arcade shooting game "XEVIOUS" (ゼビウス), which it had previously offered. The re-release is set for June 2026, with a price of 4,950 JPY.

Gamers who enjoy classic titles are certainly familiar with "XEVIOUS," a vertical scrolling shooter. Developed by NAMCO, it was originally released in January 1983 on arcade platforms. Its tagline was "The mystery deepens with every play! When will the full story of XEVIOUS be revealed?" It received widespread acclaim upon release, with sales second only to "Space Invaders." In November 1984, a ported version for the Nintendo Famicom (FC) was released, which was also beloved by many players.

In the game, players control the "SOLVALOU" fighter jet to attack and repel incoming enemies. The name SOLVALOU originates from an ancient language: SOL means sun, and VOLOU means bird. Combined, they signify "Sun Bird," or phoenix. The aircraft is equipped with both air-to-air and air-to-ground weaponry, capable of simultaneous firing, making it the XEVIOUS Defense Force's cutting-edge fighter-bomber.

This SOLVALOU fighter jet plastic model kit by WAVE marks its third release. It stands approximately 11 cm tall (including the base). The entire model can be assembled without the need for additional adhesive, and its clear color separation ensures a good finish upon completion. The cockpit at the nose is rendered with clear parts and can be opened to reveal the interior. The base features the design of the enemy's large floating fortress, "ANDOR GENESIS," creating a strong combat atmosphere when displayed together.
