Junichi Yamakawa’s gay erotic manga Kuso Miso Technique became an internet sensation in the mid-2000s, when the Takakazu Abe meme swept across Niconico. It even inspired the parody song "Yaranaika," cementing its place in online culture.
Japan’s Vivaldi Inc. recently announced a new manga starring Takakazu Abe, the breakout character from Junichi Yamakawa’s Kuso Miso Technique. Billed as an all-ages comedy manga, the project will feature artwork by Atsushi Ogiwara. Its title and release date have yet to be confirmed, but the story is currently planned to run for six chapters.

Kuso Miso Technique may be a short read, but its unforgettable lines—including "Whoa! What a hot guy..." and "You wanna do it?"—along with Abe’s famously ecstatic expression turned the manga into a defining internet meme of its generation.

Set in present-day Japan during the Reiwa era, the all-ages comedy follows Takakazu Abe’s everyday life. Artist Atsushi Ogiwara has been illustrating the manga adaptation of the light novel series Labyrinth Damnation, serialized through Shogakukan’s DigiColle web manga platform since 2022.
The script will be written by Maki Ito, director of the 2024 OVA Shin Yaranai ka. The new manga remains untitled and is planned for six chapters, with further production updates to be announced at a later date.

A Takakazu Abe T-shirt and acrylic stand featuring artwork by Atsushi Ogiwara will also be shipped to crowdfunding supporters as campaign rewards. Orders are currently available through the flageorim store.

For plenty of longtime internet users, this is pure nostalgia. Two years after returning in a new OVA, Takakazu Abe is now heading back to manga—and clearly, the appeal of a truly good man never goes out of style.
