US-based statue manufacturer Gentle Giant, known for its 1/6 scale "Mini Bust" series featuring Marvel superheroes and villains, is unleashing another fan-favorite character in zombie form! Following last year's SDCC exclusive "Zombie Deadpool," the company is now introducing the "Doctor Doom (Zombie)" Mini Bust. This piece will be a 2021 NYCC exclusive, with an estimated shipping date of January 2022.
Originally named Victor von Doom, Doctor Doom first appeared in 1962's "Fantastic Four" #5. He is a master of both science and magic, seemingly contradictory fields, and his strategic and leadership talents have made him the de facto dictator of the small nation of Latveria. His signature look includes full metallic armor and green attire.
Standing approximately 25 cm tall, this piece captures Doctor Doom's classic silver and green battle suit, but with extensive detailing of accumulated dust, weathering, and bloodstains. Even his left hand, which should be encased in armor, features exposed bone and broken fingers. Coupled with what appears to be a mangled chest and abdomen, and an extremely tattered cape, the bust exudes a profound sense of despair, a stark contrast to Doom's usual imposing presence. The vacant, hollow gaze in his eyes is also exceptionally rendered, realistically conveying the mindless, shell-like appearance of a zombie. It's truly fantastic! However, the Gentle Giant official website indicates this item is already sold out, so collectors hoping to snag one might need to put in some extra effort.
